My Vision
Architecture is for everyone.
Architecture is for everyone, and so is the AIA. I've spent over two decades building a practice, mentoring the next generation, serving my community and the profession at every level of AIA, from local chapter treasurer to state president. Along the way, I've seen what works, what's broken, and what's possible.
Our profession is at a crossroads. Climate change is reshaping our communities today. Economic inequality determines who has access to quality design. Too many talented voices remain on the margins. And rapid technological disruption is transforming how we practice.
But architects are problem-solvers. We see possibilities where others see constraints. And when we work together, no challenge is insurmountable. For example, convening with purpose to help society during the post COVID-19 Pandemic era and also creating a Disaster Assistance Resource Guide, was an imperative goal and collective initiative.
My platform is built on four commitments, shaped by what I've learned, what I've lived, and what I believe our profession needs most
Leading on climate action and wellness design that heals communities.
We must move beyond 'doing less harm' to creating buildings and communities that actively heal and restore. Regenerative design isn't a luxury , it's a necessity and a moral imperative.
As president, I will:
- Advance regenerative design as standard practice.
- Champion healthcare and wellness design.
- Accelerate zero-emissions buildings.
- Promote data-driven design strategies.
- Support community-scale resilience.
The future is regenerative , environmentally, socially, and professionally. WE have the opportunity to restore what's been broken.
Pillar 1: Regenerative Design
Pillar 2: Justice & Equity
A profession that reflects and serves the communities we design for.
Architecture remains one of the least diverse professions in America. As a first-generation Ecuadorian immigrant, I know what it means to lead change.
As president, I will champion:
-
Expanding pathways for underrepresented communities.
-
Empowering immigrant architects and building networks.
-
Strengthening JEDI as a core principle.
-
Amplifying diverse voices in governance.
-
Investing in the next generation.
That milestone matters, not for me, but for every young architect who needs to see that this path is possible.
Pillar 3: Elevate Profession
Strengthening advocacy, empowering small firms, and making architects essential.
The public doesn't always understand what architects do. That's on us to change. Small firms represent 75% of AIA membership, we are the backbone.
As president, I will:
- Strengthening advocacy at all levels.
- Fighting for tax provisions for small firms.
- Championing fair compensation for services.
- Empowering volunteer chapters.
- Positioning architects as civic leaders.
Architects should be at the table when decisions are made, not just when plans are drawn.
Pillar 4: Innovation
Embracing technology, modernizing practice, and leaving no firm behind.
Our profession must evolve to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world. Emerging technologies, new materials and shifting economic models. These are not threats to traditional practice. They are opportunities to expand possibilities.
As president, I will:
- Making technology accessible for small firm budgets.
- Prioritizing business acumen development.
- Equipping next-gen with emerging tools.
- Modernizing knowledge sharing.
- Accelerating the licensure pathway.
Technology is an equalizer, not a threat. I will ensure no firm gets left behind in the digital transition.
I've never believed in the myth of the singular genius architect. The best work I've done has always been collaborative, working with communities, partnering with engineers and builders, learning from colleagues, and empowering the next generation.
Architecture is for everyone. That means a profession where every architect has the support, tools, and voice they need to do their best work.
Together, we amplify impact.
